A good wine connoisseur would certainly appreciate having a fine wine bottle stopper to keep his opened bottle of wine as fresh as the day it was first opened.
Surely, you must allow some varietals to breathe a little but at the same time you do not want the bottle to remain open for any length of time.
Besides serving it useful purpose of keeping your wine fresh, your wine bottle stopper can also add a touch of class to your wine bottle as well.
Many people find it appealing to dress up their wine bottles. They particularly love to adorn the neck and container with fancy pieces of decoration.
To bring this point home I once had a friend who went a bit overboard with his decorating ideas that he purchased a piece of netting with imitation jewels to spice up his wine bottle during the holiday season.
He even took his wine bottle decorating one step further by adding a shiny silver wine bottle stopper complete with a red ruby stone. His final master piece looked more like a holiday decoration rather than the wine bottle that it was supposed to be.
Spicing up a wine bottle stopper and container with beautiful decorations seems to appeal to most wine lovers.
When decorated in just the right way a wine bottle stopper can become the main conversation piece during any type of formal gathering or it can be incorporated into the theme of the party to give it that extra flair.
Decorating your wine bottle stopper and containers is also a great way of adding a little humor to those casual gatherings with close friends and family.
Some years ago when my then husband to be and I were planning our wedding we received a very gorgeous wine basket from a close friend.
The basket contained two elegant wine glasses, two bottles of the finest wine imaginable and some other items that are necessary to complete a wine basket bouquet.
These items consisted of a handy wine bottle opener that was simple enough to use and a wine bottle stopper, which was in no way like any wine bottle stopper we had ever seen. Needless to say that we both started laughing hysterically at the sight of it.
At the top of the wine bottle stopper was a monk greedily drinking down wine from an oak barrel. This piece was flawlessly hand painted with the most intricate details.
The monk's expression is truly a masterpiece of art and the overall appearance of the piece seems like something out of the stone age.
I must mention though that the wine stopper was packaged very carefully in a beautiful box complete with twine threading running all around it.
I must confess that the wine bottle stopper is still in its original package just as the day that we received it. I cannot bring myself to take the monk out of his home, because he looks so content and at the same time a bit funny in his package.
I guess the wine bottle stopper will forever remain in its package on top of my wine rack for the rest of his days.
What can I say certain utilitarian items are so nice that it would be a shame to use them. We did however, buy ourselves another wine bottle stopper which we use to keep our wine fresh. I cannot bring myself to ruin the beautiful memory of such an absolutely wonderful presentation.
